Drive to Trinity

Enjoy your car ride

Nestled at the bottom of a bay, Trinity is an old fishing village where most of the houses and shops date from the 19th century. From this place suitable for hiking, you can take the Skerwink Trail, which offers superb panoramas. An hour away, Cape Bonavista is home to a lighthouse dating from 1870, where the story of Newfoundland fishing is told. Also, go to the top of Ocher Hill – the views from up there are superb

Skerwink hiking tour

Just minutes from Trinity in Trinity East, the Skerwink Trail is one of Travel and Leisure’s “25 Great Walks in North America and Europe.” This 5.3 km coastal loop, rated moderate, takes about 2 hours to complete and offers breathtaking views, with stairs on steeper sections and boardwalks over boggy areas. Lookouts with benches provide perfect spots to enjoy the scenery and spot wildlife like moose, foxes, bald eagles, whales, seabirds, and icebergs.

We suggest exploring the island’s charming villages and numerous trails on foot, as it’s only 27 km by 14. Brimstone Head trail is legendary, leading to the supposed corner of the Earth atop an ancient volcano. Discover the scenic Turpin’s Trail in Tilting, winding through grassy plateaus and rugged coastlines. With a rich history dating back to the 16th century, the island wasn’t colonized until the 18th by the English and Irish. Admire the picturesque ports of Tilting and Joe Batt’s Arm, adorned with colorful old houses, often raised on stilts, mirroring the vibrant boats in the harbor.
